Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me,

let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. -Matthew 16:24 KJV

Herein Jesus describes the cost of discipleship in two words,

discipline and sacrifice. Infusing these two elements into our everyday

life prepares us to follow Christ to Calvary. Taking up the cross means

sacrificing our desires fully understanding the cost and voluntarily paying it,

just as Christ Jesus did. Pray today for life-bringing discipline and a

willingness to sacrifice whatever is necessary to bring one more soul to Christ.
