The Lord controls rulers, just as He determines the course of rivers.

Proverbs 21:1 NKJV

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water;

He turns it wherever He wishes.

My heart is saddened when I look at the devastation that a leader

can cause during his/her tenure. I honestly sometimes question

why the Lord allows the destruction to take place by the hand

of those in authority. Sometimes rivers are wide and deep,

or shallow and narrow. No matter the character of the river

the Lord leads it where He wants it to go.  This scripture grounds

me and helps me to rest in the fact that the Lord controls rulers.

God has a larger plan in mind than I can comprehend.

Our God is eternal and He sees the entire landscape of history.

I can rest in knowing that “…all things work together for good

to those who love God, to those who are the called according

to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
